6th - 7th Mar 2010 | Windsor Salsa party with James McLauchlan - Saturday 6th March - |
Hey All,
It's almost time for the next Windsor Salsa Dance Party on Saturday 6th March. The night will be pulsing with great Salsa and Latin music in the main Bar with DJ's Andy and Jeff who are guaranteed to keep the dance floor a live. This month we will also be hosting a West Coast Swing night with James McLauchlan, a firm favourite and a good friend to us at Salsabelfast.
We had a great time at last month's Windsor party - Guest teacher
Steve Davis kicked the evening off and gave a very interesting latin rhythm class before James and Jeff took over and kept the floor alive with great salsa tracks. Downstairs we hosted a Tango night with Alan and Piret giving a short class and Nikos and Alan pulling out a great selection of music. Everyone had a great night, one of our best yet and it was good to see so many new faces!!!
There are some pictures (sorry for being so dark) on facebook at :

This time round at Windsor as we said we have invited James McLauchlan to join us. He will be giving an Improvers Class early on from 7pm and an Absolute Beginners West Coast Swing class (everyone welcome, no experience needed) from about 8.30. James has won many awards for his dancing, and is not only a well known dancer in WCS and Moden Jive circles but is also a real people person who makes the workshops and classes fun!
We will once again have our popular format with the two dance floors. Upstairs on the main dance floo after the classes from 9:30pm onwards we will pack the night with the best Salsa tunes and a few Bachata, Merengue, Reaggaton and Cha Cha tracks thrown in for good measure.
Jeff will take an improvers Rueda class for those of you who are comfortable with all the basics before James moves down stairs to continue the WCS party there for the rest of the evening ;)

This is truly by popular demand. We have had him over for few times now and every time without a fail we have had a fabulous night. So we are sure this one will be no different.
For those who haven't seen it, WCS is a smooth dance which is danced to modern pop music - singers like Gaelle, Lisa Shaw, Akon, Justin Timberlake, Duffy, Jennifer Lopez and Chris Brown.

12th - 13th Mar 2010 | LA ONDA LATINA BAND - |
proudly made in belfast for the world, will shake your hips
La Onda Latina
Latin American music has evolved from the cultural diversities and traditions of many countries, but with a common foundation that unites it all: the peopleās natural ability to feel the pulse, the rhythm of the music and to allow their bodies to latch on to the beat as it moves from clave to bass to brass to vocal. They live their music. In the old days their systems of government would spread the word of their decisions through drumming patterns that the communities would enhance with song and dance to form the law and set up order.
Well Onda Latina have rules of their own:
* You must loosen up your body and let it dance
* You must enjoy yourself, smile and let your hair down
* You must get out of your seat, shake a little bit and make contact with those around you
* You must clap and shout and laugh and sing
And most importantly,
* You must shut off from the pressures of the real world for two hours and discover the full spiritual impact of the music.
Make no mistake; this is their culture, their religion. They eat, sleep, breath, live their music and you will find yourselves infected by their utter pleasure in what they do.
La Onda Latina put on a show that is unique to these parts. Drums, congas, guitar, bass, keys, brass, vocals, dancers combine to create a vibe of salsa, samba, rumba and Latino from tunes of their own countries to well known Westernised hits such as La Bamba, Tequila,Sway, Quien Sera. This is a treat indeedā¦leave your baggage at home and discover the real you!
